uberMORPG Third Person Controllers
A downloadable uMORPG-TPControllers
Part of the Uber-MORPG series of prototype player controllers,
The TP Action Mover controller is a third person action based controller, allowing for controls similar to most action-orientated RPGs. The controller comes with a camera script to allow for a free orbiting follow camera, but also a strafe and aim down sights mode. The character movement script features Server Authoritative structure with Client Prediction to provide a secure and smooth movement, with jumping, crouched and prone movements. A substitute IK system is used to alter the body angle with replication across the network. The TPAMO controller does not feature an action system, and only handles locomotion. The animator controller is provided to manage transitions between states, but no animations are provided.
The TP Click To Move controller is a third person mmo controller that moves by clicking on a nav mesh or by direct control with the WASD keys. Featuring a free orbit camera with zooming, the system uses RPC commands to engage in movement, and does not operate on the tick system. The camera includes a collision check system for smooth transition when obscured.
Like the other controllers, these systems are considered "prototypes", it is created for demonstrative purposes to allow users to learn how to work with Unity and Fish-Networking. It is but only a single way to handle movement across the network and has not undergone professional refactoring. Both systems require Fish Networking and the Third Person Starter assets which are available free on the Unity Asset Store.
The code is annotated with comments to explain various functions and scripts, and is intended for an audience with some proficiency in C# and understanding of networking structures with Unity.
